AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that challenges conventional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the official statement, "A strange encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of banned rituals and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The plot presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret cult.
The adventure focuses on "bizarre tests and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Extra Content
Players who finish the mission will obtain an special katana in addition to several artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This patch also brings the game's third free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
